Cara Delevingne is getting into acting, ya’ll! Her new movie, Paper Towns, is about to be released, and it looks like it’s gonna be goooood. Here’s 5 things you need to know before seeing her major motion picture debut:
1. Who’s staring?
The Fault In Our Stars‘, Nat Wolff (Issac) is co-starring alongside the model. Cara actually believes if it wasn’t for Nat, she wouldn’t have gotten the role. During their audition together they got along really well, so much so that they both spent the time crying! “There was a lot of crying; Jake [Schreier, the director] was like, ‘just improvise,’ and we went off-script and just cried and got really real and emotional and I think that’s probably why, well I hope,” she told Sugarscape. “We had a chemistry straight away, Nat and I are both really fidgety and have loads of energy, so I think they were like, ‘Ok, this could either be really good or really bad.’ So yeah, they took a risk I guess.”
2. Who’s directing/producing?
For those of you who don’t know, Paper Towns is originally a book written by John Green. He also wrote another little-known book-turned-movie called The Fault In Our Stars. John tweeted this past March, “I’m also REALLY excited that I’ll be an executive producer on the Paper Towns movie. Now, if you don’t like something, you can blame me. :)” Jake Schreier will be directing the movie and the producers will be Wyck Godfrey, Marty Brown and Isaac Klausner, the same team that produced The Fault In Our Stars (#shocker). John Green is excited and feels as if the movie is in good hands, and we couldn’t agree more!
3. There may or may not be some Taylor Swift influence.
John Green revealed that he listened to Taylor Swift while working on the film. He posted on tumblr, “I’m in Paper Towns movie meetings all day and they think I’m making notes on the script but I’m actually listening to 1989.” It gets better, Taylor Swift saw this and re-blogged his post saying, “My Favorite Author Just Said WHAT?!?” Of course Taylor was being modest! John then tweeted, “Taylor Swift re-blogged me on Tumblr and called me her favorite author. Trying not to freak out.” Can you say #fangirlprobz?
4. Where was the movie filmed?
Although the book takes place mostly in Florida, the movie was filmed in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Asheville Citizen-Times reports Green chose North Carolina for the filming location due to the state’s incentives for the industry. Many other movies and shows were filmed in North Carolina, including some of our faves like One Tree Hill and The Hunger Games. Some may even call North Carolina the Hollywood of the East Coast.
5. When will it be released?
The answer you’ve all been waiting for: July 24th, 2015. So mark your calendars, because this is one summer movie you won’t want to miss! You also better start reading if you’re the type that likes to read books before seeing the movie version.
