6 Foods That Affect Your Mood (For Better Or For Worse) #WellnessWednesday

We all love food. Don’t deny it! But as much as you enjoy munching on your favorite desserts, chowing down on that everything bagel with cream cheese, or sipping that mid-morning cup of java, keep in mind that the food you consume does affect your mood in different ways. That’s why it’s so important to watch what  you eat. (I know it’s easier said than done!) But here are a few foods to be mindful of that can affect your mood for better or worse.

Bananas. They’re not only a great source of potassium, but they are great to eat if you want a positive boost. Plus, they also help regulate blood sugar levels–so no extreme highs or lows when eating them!

Eggs. If you’re looking for something to help you sustain energy that’s packed with iron and protein, eggs definitely fit the bill. Just don’t go overboard, as you do need to watch those cholesterol levels!

Fish. You may or may not be a fan, but fish like salmon are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which are great for stabilizing your mood. It’s even been said that eating more servings in your regular diet could help lower the risk of developing depression.

Sugary snacks. Okay, you probably already know that you should watch the sugar. That rush of energy that you get can bring your mood up, but you’ll pay for it by crashing shortly after. Remember to eat in moderation, especially if you want to avoid constant cravings.

Coffee. If you need the java to get through the day, then pay attention! Your daily cups could be affecting your mood in a negative way, as the caffeine can leave you feeling jittery or anxious. There’s something to be said for the term coffee addict!

Fast food. Put down the burger and fries. You can indulge, but don’t make picking up this easy option a part of your normal routine, as they can make you feel good while eating but more sluggish afterward.
