6 Skincare Tips For Anyone Who Breaks Out, Like, A Lot
August 3, 2016
Didn’t we all think that pimples and acne were for our teenage years only?! It doesn’t make sense how people in their 20s and 30s still have to wake up to that familiar-but-awful feeling of something bulging out of their foreheads. If you’re someone who breaks out a lot, you know the struggle, and we’re here for you. We came up with some easy tips and hacks to help you keep your breakouts at bay, and hopefully stop them from happening.
Wash your face more. This one’s pretty self-explanatory, and honestly you probably already knew it. We all get lazy, but after those nights out with friends, take the extra 3 minutes to just wash your face. Taking off a night’s face of makeup can do all the difference. Or, if you workout in the morning, and tbh you don’t have time to shower afterward, just take a few minutes to wash your face! The accumulated sweat can affect your skin, so it’s simple – wash. your. face.
Clean your makeup brushes. We didn’t really think of this one, but if you have been using your brushes on acne or breakouts, then your brushes might have picked up some bacteria. Take a few minutes to clean your makeup brushes the right way.
Change what you eat. So much of our diets make up our overall health. If you break out a lot, try eliminating dairy, caffeine, sugar, and soy. These foods tend to lead to breakouts, so try it out – see if it makes a difference!
Change your detergent. Some laundry detergents and dryer sheets can irritate your skin – especially if you have sensitive skin. Go for a fragrance-free detergent and drop the dryer sheets – try it out!
Change your sheets. Okay, yeah we know that sounded like your mom, but seriously. Bed sheets, pillow cases, and towels can harbor bacteria, so if you’ve been using them for a few weeks, it’s time for a switch.
Don’t pick! Last but not least, don’t pick at your face. We all do it, but you know just as much as we do that it’s the worst thing you can do for your skin. Picking just makes it worse, so try to lay off!
