This spring weather is crazy. One day it’s sunny and 70 and the next it’s 50 and rainy. Even when it looks sunny, chances are it’s probably a little chilly. This up and down weather is not only messing with our mood, but it’s also making choosing an outfit each morning near impossible. Should you wear pants or bare your legs in a skirt? Open toe shoes or closed? Winter jacket or no jacket? The decisions are endless.
Our solution? Keep your closet stocked with items that work whether the weather is warm or cool. We’re talking pieces that look spring-y, but still offer some warmth should it be colder than you expected. Here’s what you absolutely need for this transitional weather:
2. Closed toe pumps. Can’t tell if it’s warm enough to have your toes exposed? Closed toe pumps are perfect because they let some of your foot breathe, but still offer coverage.
3. Maxi skirt. Chances are, it’s probably too chilly for a miniskirt just yet. But if you’re dying to get out of pants, a maxi skirt is the middle ground.
4. 3/4-sleeve blouses. You can pack away the wool sweaters, but don’t bust out your sleeveless tops just yet. A 3/4-sleeve shirt is the ideal compromise because it will keep your arms warm, but it won’t make you sweat like a pig.
5. Year-round booties. We’re not talking heavy leather here. Think light-colored, perforated and ankle length or below.
6.Anorak. Spring showers are inevitable, so it’s always smart to have a waterproof jacket handy. Sure, you could lug around a plastic raincoat, but we like these lightweight, packable anoraks much better.
