We’ve all added items to our online shopping carts that we don’t end up buying. It could be because of tax and shipping costs, or maybe you realize that another LBD isn’t really necessary (or worth the price tag). This is called “abandoning” and there are certain retailers that actually reward you for doing this. They send a follow up email with a coupon or discount code if you don’t go through with buying the items in your cart after a couple of days.

Rather-Be-Shopping.com found 17 popular retails who use this tactic, including Kate Spade, Macy’s and Birchbox. We tested this trick at some of our favorite stores, like Shopbop, Nordstrom and Piperlime, but it did not work (will keep you posted if anything changes). All you get is a reminder email to buy the items in your cart…at full price. However, we decided to round up the places you shop most often from Rather-Be-Shopping.com’s list. Click the slideshow find out where to get a discount for leaving items in your cart.

*You must sign-up for an account at the retailer’s site and be logged in to get a discount.

Have you received a discount for abandoning from a retailer not on this list? Let us know in the comments below!
