Some call it hippy dippy, we call it worth a shot. The color therapy movement has been around for a while now and there’s no better time to test it out than this spring.

For those who are unfamiliar, here’s a quick tutorial. Some experts suggest that filling your life with certain colors can not only help improve your mood and overall disposition, but it can also lead to major breakthroughs. Now before you shake your head and write it off, where’s the harm in giving it a try? Everyone can agree that it feels good to hang up the all black ensemble in favor of some color every once in a while, so why not work with specific colors to help you accomplish some goals this season?

We’re all for it and we’re here to help those of you who want to make a life change this spring with a color therapy primer. Here’s a quick guide:

Red: This one’s a no brainer. Red is associated with passion, desire, and love, so if you’re looking to fall in love this spring, start wearing more red ASAP.

Blue: Because blue is the color of the ocean and the sky, it’s thought to be a calming hue that offers stability. What that means for you? If you want to stress less and be more peaceful, bust out the blue clothing.

Green: Here’s another easy one. Green is the color of nature, which is why it’s often thought to mean growth and fertility. Thinking about having a baby? Get yourself some green!

Yellow: Think about how you feel on a sunny day–happy, right? That’s why yellow is the color of joy and happiness. If your spring goal is to get out, be social and make more friends, be sure you’re wearing lots and lots of yellow.

Purple: Historically, purple is the color of royalty and extravagance. Now you can either wear lots of it in hopes of attracting a prince, or as a self-esteem boost and constant reminder that you are royal in your own right.

Orange: What happens when you combine the passion of red with the happiness and energy of yellow? You get orange, which is frequently associated with determination and success. So instead of waiting for that promotion you totally deserve, start wearing orange as often as possible.
