What: Debra Torres Guayaberas

image

Why: Think guayabera and what comes to mind? Most likely a bunch of Latin tough guys. After all, the traditional shirt is practically an icon of Latin masculinity. But no longer. Cuban-born designer Debra Torres has taken the guayabera, added some lush colors and feminine flourishes, and ta-da!—introducing the women’s version. And they’re the opposite of masculine. The fitted cap-sleeve Margarita ($125) is so clean and crisp, yet the crochet details add an extra flair to the already uniquely Latin shirt. Among the other styles, another favorite is the gorgeous turquoise wrap Orchidea ($330), which doubles as shirt and light jacket.
