A Find: ESSENCIA DRYER BAGS

I recently discovered that most fabric softeners are a toxic brew of chemicals, which, apart from being environmentally questionable, aggravate my already sensitive skin. Consequently, I’ve had to learn to live without fabric softeners and dryer sheets. Truthfully, I haven’t missed them – even without softener my clothes remains fluffy and static free- but I have missed that fresh out of the dryer smell. In one of those rare cases where the substitute is better than the original, Essencia’s Dryer Bags have filled the void perfectly.

Strictly speaking these fragrance satchels (which look a little like giant tea bags) aren’t fabric softeners. They’re aromatherapy bags which when tossed in the dryer with wet laundry, gently infuses the clothing with fragrant herbal essences (you get a choice of Lavender or Chamomile). The bags are carefully designed so they won’t ruin even your most delicate washables, are reusable for three to four washes, and smell significantly better than traditional softeners or dryer sheets. With Essencia’s Dryer Bags, clothes waft a gentler, more natural (what exactly is mountain mist or spring dawn anyway?), and just overall more pleasant fragrance than with their synthetic counterparts.
