A Find: More to Love from Chlo
April 10, 2006
What: Straight from the runway Chloé bags
Why: In my humble opinion, nothing beats the Chloé Paddington– even with the wrist-breaking weight of its signature padlock. (Beauty can be painful, after all.) But I admit I’m biased—I own one and love it. Still, I can’t help lusting over Chloé’s new Betty satchels (available for pre-order at Neiman’s). All three colors— metallic pewter, gray leather, and chamois—incite desire. At first glance, the bag isn’t an obvious Betty. In fact, it’s more of a Plain Jane. But like with a lot of Chloé’s beauties, there’s something about the ultrasimplistic style and ever-so-reliable functionality—four sizable front pockets and a coin purse that acts like a fun detail—that draws you to it. Casual yet city chic, simple yet classy, Betty’ll probably end up on every woman’s already-too-long most-wanted list. Another newcomer is the Silverado Hobo. While I would definitely choose the Betty over this one any day, the leather bag has special whipstitching to for a little Western edge.
