A Sexy Summer Makeup Look Made Easy
July 10, 2007
Not long ago I was graced by a makeup magician who transformed my face with a sweep of his professional hands. It all happened at the Lancôme boutique on the upper east side of Manhattan where Leo, the shop’s resident makeup artist, gave me a look I hesitate to share, but alas I can’t keep to myself. This is an easy face to throw on for all of your summer affairs and it’s light and fresh, perfect for hot days and nights.
1. Start with flawless skin. Use a lightweight tinted moisturizer to create an even complexion. I recommend Aqua Fusion, infused with SPF 20 and hydrating minerals. Add just a touch of blush to the apples of the cheeks to create a youthful glow.
2. Play up the eyes. Dust a layer of shimmer, such as Lancôme’s Loose Powder Eyeshadow , all across the lids up to the brown bone. Grab your favorite Kohl Liner and delicately line the inner edges of the eyes (just top for day and both top and bottom for night). It might feel a little strange if you’re used to lining the outer edges, but you’ll see it instantly adds length and thickness to your lashes. Finish with a touch of mascara.
3. Get juicy lips. Last but not least, play up your pout with mega gloss. For my light skin Leo used a scary bright “Volcanic Pink” hue in the Color Fever Gloss. Although I feared I’d come off as trampy, the color looked amazing… if I do say so myself.
I swear I was ready to kidnap Leo and bring him home after I saw the results of this little look, but after trying it out by myself I realized I don’t need to be a pro to replicate it at home — and neither do you.
