It’s official. Activewear is having a moment, and we’re ecstatic. Can you imagine being able to live in your gym clothes? Well, now you can. With brands like Lululemon, Athleta, and Nike growing, and designers like Alexander Wang, and Tory Burch branching into activewear, it has never been easier or more acceptable to wear that “back-from-the gym” look.

Today’s activewear is quite different from your typical spandex shorts and tops, designers have been getting creative in order to maximize their products wearability. They are designing activewear that can also be worn outside of the gym. In an interview with WWD, Marshall Cohen of The NPD Group explained, “Activewear is the bright spot in apparel right now because the consumer has decided to wear it whether she works out at the gym or not.” So basically you can leave Soul Cycle and go straight to the bar with your friends and nobody will even know unless of course, you’re really sweaty. But there’s always dry shampoo for that! Or you can lace up your sneakers and throw on some leggings and people will think you worked out and you’re really athletic…but you’re really just hitting up the mall.

As more and more consumers embrace this comfy trend, so will retailers and activewear will explode this year. So if you want to get in on the action, check out some of our favorite “wear everywhere” activewear pieces in our slideshow!

And don’t forget to check out: printed track pants, jumpsuits, and denim cut-offs.
