If you can’t already tell from the major plotline written in to Girls about Marni’s attempts at a singing career–Allison Williams has a pretty good voice. The daughter of news anchor Brian Williams loves to sing–so much so, that NBC has cast her as the lead in their forthcoming live musical of Peter Pan. Wait–they’re doing a second one? I thought Carrie Underwood as Maria von Trapp in the Sound of Music last year would be reason enough for them to never do a musical again. Oh, well, they just announced that they’ll be airing Peter Pan Live! on Dec. 4, 2014 with Williams starring. I had so much second hand embarrassment watching Marnie sing a cringe-worthy cover of Kanye West’s “Stronger” at her ex Charlie’s party… I just don’t know if I can shake it in time to enjoy NBC’s musical.
But–maybe it won’t be so awkward after all. Stylecaster points out that Williams was actually picked for Girls based off this Youtube video of her singing along to the Mad Men theme:
UPDATE: Ladies, we have the first official photo of Allison as Peter Pan. She is wearing a wig but was ready to chop off her hair for the role, in case you were wondering.
