Whenever I go to get a manicure, I am always excited by the entire process. Every nail technician does a far better job than I do at cutting, filing and painting my nails. I try to emulate their process at home when I’m giving myself a manicure, but it never seems to go as planned! Salon manicures are often a multi-step process where lotions, oils and many tools are used but when it comes time for me to do my nails myself, I usually just have a nail file and two bottles of nail polish.

One step that I was always missing when doing my nails was cuticle oil. This is such an important product at nail salons that I was almost embarrassed to say I had never used it on my own. So, I thought it was about time that I purchased a cuticle oil myself to see if it helped my nails in the long run. I tested and reviewed the Ecco Pure Cuticle Oil Pen, $3.97 to see if it would improve my at-home manicures and overall nail care.

Ecco Pure Cuticle Oil Pen, $3.97

Cuticle oil has many uses when it comes to nail care. It is usually used in nail salons as a way to hydrate and moisturize your cuticles before trimming them or after applying nail polish. The Ecco Pure Cuticle Oil Pen, $3.97 is meant to nourish, moisturize and protect your cuticles while also increasing circulation around your nails and stimulating nail growth. For those who want to use this cuticle oil to for longer lasting manicures, you are in luck! It can be used to protect nail polish when applied after a manicure, so you hopefully will have less chips and tears in your nails.

Key Ingredient: Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an ingredient that is used in all types of products. It is known for its moisturizing properties which is why it is found in the Ecco Pure Cuticle Oil Pen, $3.97. Even if you don’t have dry nail beds, the Vitamin E in this cuticle oil will still help to hydrate and add moisture to your entire nail, not just your cuticles.

How to Use:

First things first. Wash your hands thoroughly with a focus on your nail beds. Then rub the pen against each of your cuticles so the oil disperses evenly. Then take a few extra seconds to massage the Ecco Pure Cuticle Oil Pen, $3.97 into every cuticle so it is absorbed. It is ideal to do this on bare nails, as polish will serve as a barrier between your nails and the oil. If you plan on using this after a manicure, make sure your nails are dry then apply a few brushes of the oil on your cuticles on top of the polish. Pro tip: If you simply want a little extra moisture on your nails, apply the cuticle oil at night so it has more time to absorb!

My Honest Review:

The only time I have ever come in contact with cuticle oil is at the nail salon. It is always an added bonus to my manicure that I look forward to, so I was interested in trying this product on my own. I began using the Ecco Pure Cuticle Oil Pen, $3.97 once or twice a day and simply just applied it to my bare nails and massaged it in. After a few days of this, I noticed my nails felt much softer and less coarse than before. It was also much easier for me to push back and cut my cuticles when it was time to give myself a manicure. I was amazed!

The Bottom Line:

For $4 you can completely change the way your nails look and feel. The Ecco Pure Cuticle Oil Pen, $3.97 is an easy way to make sure your nails stay soft and hydrated and its so easy to use! I liked that it came in a pen form rather than in a droplet bottle because it made less of a mess.
