Anxiety is a major stressor that can seriously cripple you if you let it. So if you find yourself feeling more overwhelmed than not during your day-to-day routine, it’s time to get a handle on those anxious tendencies once and for all. Here are a few easy ways to cure your anxiety that really work that anyone can do. Added bonus: they can start helping in five minutes or less.

1.Take a deep breath. There’s something to be said for the phrase “just breathe.” When you’re feeling super stressed, take a few deep breaths to physically relax yourself.

2.Get out of your environment. If you’re anxiety is too much to handle, try taking a walk around the block or around the office if you’re at work and need to stay in the vicinity. A quick change of scenery break can do wonders for you, as you’re literally getting away from the problem for a bit.

3.Try a little music therapy. When you’re nerves are all over the place, music is a welcome distraction. Turn on some soothing tunes and relax. A good song can literally change your mood. But if music isn’t your thing, you can also put on your favorite podcast or listen to an audio book.

4.Don’t forget to meditate. While it may be a struggle to be alone with your thoughts, meditation is a practice that anyone could use even if it’s for a few minutes. Just clear your mind and embrace the silence. Goodbye, anxious vibes!

5.Embrace the power of positive affirmations. As the saying goes, “fake it told you make it.” In this case, recite a positive mantra until you feel it. Manifest the calm attitude that you desire with inspiring words to call on when you need them.
