We bag ladies have always known the power of the purse. It seems as though the world finally agrees. Big biz mag Forbes devoted its pages to covering the most expensive designer bags, from the $15,000 Zac Posen Alexia to the everlasting $20,000-plus Hermès Birkin. We’re not talking couple thousand dollars expensive. We’re talking five-figure masterpieces. Apparently, as the experts say in the article, such extravagant pricing began around 2001 with the emergence of “signature items.” On the list, the croc Fendi B bag took first place—$27,700. It is quite lovely, with the uniquely Fendi buckles that give it that special edge; eLuxury.com has several versions of the  B Bags, from black patent leather ($2,000) to woven python ($4,310), all beautiful and, more important, all available for fractions of the former’s price. Though the Birkin has become an uptown-girl classic, it’s getting a little boring. Instead, check out the chocolate croc Chloé Paddington ($12,880), complete with the signature padlock and key. It doesn’t get more luxurious than that. (Note: So fabulous is the Paddington, NeimanMarcus.com allows customers to purchase only three every 30 days.)
