Oh, no! Little Zuma Rossdale accidentally fell from a countertop at home and broke his arm this past weekend. Luckily, he’s doing well, but Gavin Rossdale tells People.com that the entire experience was “horrific.”
Yes, a fall is definitely one of the scariest things that can happen when you’re a parent, but little kids like to see what’s going on in the kitchen and be a part of the action. My son included, but instead of letting him sit on the kitchen counter when he was a toddler, I set up one of these Little Partners Learning Towers in the kitchen.
Much better than your standard kids’ step stool, the Learning Tower is essentially an adjustable platform that pulls right up to the kitchen counter. It was easy for my son to climb in and out of, and the side rails kept him from falling out. It was big enough for two kids (great during playdates), and when he wasn’t using it in the kitchen, he had fun with it as a puppet theater and a fort.
It’s not perfect, though. It has a pretty big footprint (which makes it super-sturdy), and my husband stubbed his toes on it every now and then. But it wasn’t a problem for me or my son, but we have little feet.
