You can blame Isabel Marant for the ubiquitous wedge sneakers trend and the fact that sporty footwear has made its way from the streets to high fashion (just ask any off-duty model). Pretty much every brand from Ash to Steve Madden has taken the trend and ran with it, and the latest offender is Be & D who took “high heel sneaker” quite literally with their latest Big City high-tops ($128). Instead of a hidden wedge like Marant’s, these kicks are like an optical illusion: they feature a silk-screened silhouette of high heels on the side. This is genius for concerts or festivals where you want to have cute footwear, but don’t want to get blisters or ruin your shoes. They also come in a glitter-y and gingham style, as well as other designs, like an upside-down pistol, complete with fired bullet.
So, what do you think: would you wear them for a night out on the town, or reserve them for events like Coachella? Either way, click through the slideshow above to pick your favorite pair.
