Beauty Double Duty: 10 Foods That You Can Use For Your Face, Skin and Hair

Who needs La Mer when you have leftovers? Natural (you’ll find no chemicals there) and inexpensive, products like cucumbers, honey and olive oil can double up as your new favorite go-to beauty products in just under a few minutes. From the kitchen cabinet to the pantry to the fridge, check out the list below to find out which food products can reduce puffiness and which can lighten your hair and remove blackheads. You can thank us later when you cancel that highlights appointment next week.

Coffee: Treat cellulite and use as an exfoliator by combining 1 cup of ground coffee beans with 1/2 cup sugar and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Rub mixture all over your skin and rinse.

Cucumbers: De-puff eyes and brighten under-eye circles by slicing a chilled cucumber. Close your eyes and place the cucumber slices over the eyes and let them rest for at least 10 minutes.

Eggs: Condition your hair by beating 1 egg with 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Apply the egg mixture to head and work into the hair. Leave on for 10-15 minutes and rinse with shampoo and conditioner.

Honey: Treat acne by mixing 1 teaspoon of warm honey with 1 tablespoon of milk. Use as a cleanser.

Lemon: Lighten your hair by squeezing 1-2 lemons directly into the hair. Distribute the lemon juice with a hair brush and sit out in the sun. Rinse hair.

Oatmeal: Moisturize your face, prevent breakouts and blackheads by combining 1 cup of dried oatmeal with 1 tablespoon of water at a time until the mixture becomes of a paste-like consistency (if it becomes too watery to stay on your face, add more oatmeal). Apply to the face and leave till the oatmeal mixture begins to dry. Rinse with warm water.

Olive Oil: Remove makeup by applying a small amount of olive oil to a cotton pad or ball.

Strawberries: Make a moisturizing facial mask by mashing up 5-10 strawberries and applying to the face. Leave for 15 minutes and rinse with warm water.

Tea Bags: Remove cysts or get rid of the bags under the eyes by applying hot (for cysts) and cold (for under-eye bags and puffiness) tea bags directly on the cyst or under the eyes and let them sit for 10-15 minutes.

Yogurt: Hydrate your hands and nails by combining 1 cup of yogurt with the juice of 1 lemon. Leave in the fridge for a few hours and massage the mixture into the hands and nails. Leave for 10-15 minutes and remove excess yogurt with a wet cloth.
