Beauty Find: Make Peace with Self-Tanner
April 3, 2007
Why: When the topic of tanning comes up, I make a point of letting everyone within a 20-foot radius know that “I’ve made peace with my pasty skin.†This is obviously a bold-faced lie. The truth is, I just can’t suffer the indignity of orange palms and stripy skin one more time. I’ve been burned by so many self-tanners, that I’ve been too scared to get back in the game — until now.
Xen-Tan has more olive undertones than many other self-tanners, which is essential for those of us with fair skin tones. I started the process with the body scrub ($18) to prepare my skin, and then I used the Dark Tanning Mousse ($29). It went on smoothly, dried almost immediately, and since the color appeared right away, it was easy to gauge how much further to go. Within three hours my tan was fully developed and unbelievably streak-free. The only thing worse than all over pasty, is a nice tan body with a white face. Xen-Tan Face ($22) goes on really lightly, absorbs immediately, and doesn’t feel at all greasy.
My days of representing for the pasty skin set are officially over.
