Beauty Find: Sun Protected Lips from Jane Iredale
July 30, 2007
Why: Back in college, I went to an early season football game. Feeling flirty, I had brought along my Clinique lip gloss for some extra pout. As the game went on and the sun glared, I noticed my lips feeling increasingly sore. Pained, I kept reapplying the gloss, wondering why they were so chapped.
Fast forward to the following morning – my lips were so sunburned, it hurt to open my mouth. That ‘gloss’ had done an excellent job of reflecting the sun and increasing their rays…like when you bake on a boat that’s on the water. I couldn’t look anyone in the eyes for 48 hours as they recoiled in horror at my atrocious lips. I swore that I would never use lip gloss without SPF again.
Lucky for me, my lips aren’t limited to lip gloss. Take Jane Iredale’s PureMoist Lip Colour line, for example. With an SPF 18 rating (thanks to zinc oxide) and color that actually lasts, I can avoid a repeat of that painful lesson.
