A Find: There's a new Doc on the block, and Dr. Gross is the Man!
January 27, 2005
There are tons of beauty books on the market, but very few can be considered ‘classics.’
We’ve found a new one that’s well worth reading. “Your Future Face” is a new skin care book that features ‘a plan to look younger at any age,’ by Dennis Gross M.D, a doctor with authoritative street cred behind him: he’s a dermatologist, a dermatological surgeon, and a clinician at New York University’s medical center.
We’re in love with the book and accompanying products, and here’s why:
The book breaks down skin care by age (or more appropriately, your self-assessed skin condition), and features tons on tips on the appropriate course of skincare, including what to eat. The book is as much a nutritional bible as it is a skin care guide, and is full of good, solid advice that will survive even as chemists discover newer, better ingredients for skin care. After all, acids and peels may come and go. Broccoli is forever.
We love that this book doesn’t push its own product — focusing more on the key ingredients you should search for in good skin care products of any brand. That being said, this book does offer its own accompanying product line, and we’ve religiously ‘road tested’ the MD skincare line for two weeks now — and have been amazed by the quality. Out of the three products we’ve tried, here’s what warrant attention: The Maximum Moisture Treatment, which is a scentless, simple and effective moisturizer that absorbs easily and does what it promises, and is applied after the Anti-Aging Vitamin C Gel, which is intended to be applied at night and has a miraculous effect on sun damaged or over part-ied skin. Also worth mentioning is the Lift and Lighten Eye Cream — which has become our new preferred product for raccoon eyes.
