Stylists are the saints of the fashion world. Celeb stylists like Rachel Zoe get paid the big bucks because a celebrity’s image is their bread and butter–and many of them have no clue how to dress. Just ask fashion mavens Nicole Richie, Rihanna, and Lady Gaga, who each employed an army of geniuses to elevate their looks. See the shocking before and after pictures, and then check out how you can get their updated looks now.
Nicole Richie entered the Hollywood scene with a tacky BFF, Paris Hilton, and an even tackier wardrobe. Nicole’s former stylist, Rachel Zoe, put her on the fashion map, but now the petite mommy works with styling duo Cristina Ehrlich and Estee Stanley. Who would have thought that the girl on the left would design multiple fashion lines? (Speaking of, Richie’s Winter Kate collection ships from Singer22.com today.) The boho queen gravitates towards strong prints, and this maxi dress looks glamorous and comfortable.
The print Leifsdottir “Serpent” Printed Silk Maxi Dress ($328) is pretty and interesting at the same time, and we could see Richie, or her stylist, snapping up this dress. This Mad Imports Chelsea Clutch ($69.00) completes the outfit that would be great for any outdoor party or a more formal event.
Rihanna isn’t wearing baggy jeans and suspenders anymore. The pop star cut her hair, got a new stylist, Mariel Haenn, and the rest is history. I like the way she paired a bustier top with ruched leggings, and her statement making pumps look great with the all black ensemble.
This White House Black Market Satin Sheath Dress ($168) has similar draping details as Rihanna’s dress, and these gold Banana Republic July high heel sandals ($120) make the outfit a little more dressy.
The internet is buzzing about Lady Gaga’s look pre-fame–see the pop star above wearing Abercrombie and Fitch–but those days are long gone as the singer would now rather wear soda cans in her hair before she’d be caught dead in a pair of jeans and a hoodie. She works closely with stylist and Dazed and Confused magazine Creative Director Nicola Formichetti, and while he outfits Lady Gaga in floating orbs, a modified version of the dress she wears below will work great for a cocktail party or a special event.
This BCBGMAXAZRIA gold halter dress ($139, down from $260) mimics Gaga’s bejeweled dress above. The floral appliques and the black slash at the waist make the simple dress stand out.
