From left: A look from J Brand’s new sportswear line, and Donald Oliver, the collection’s designer, styling a model
For the past six years, J Brand has been synonymous with the skinny jean, as denim has always epitomized the brand. But now, J Brand is branching out into the sportswear market, launching 140 new styles come spring. Putting them in direct competition with brands like Rag & Bone and Carven, J Brand’s new sportswear line will be priced from $200 to $1,500 and will include pieces ranging from leather bomber jackets (pictured at left) to knit sweaters and maxi skirts (pictured at right).
“It’s important that we looked at [our customer] as a whole. We just didn’t want to look at her as working or going out. It’s about building an aspirational wardrobe for our girl,” the collection’s designer, Donald Oliver, told WWD.
