Remember that Chanel perfume bottle-inspired iPhone case Kelly Osbourne wore? Well, turns out that little things is causing a whole lot of trouble. Chanel is suing Shop Jeen over the fakes. The retailer is being accused of federal trademark infringement, trademark counterfeiting, false designation of origin, trademark dilution, and common law trademark infringement.
The Fashion Law reports that Chanel wants $2 million dollars for every $35 iPhone case sold, plus legal expenses. Ouch. The fashion house is also asking the court for a permanent injunction to prevent Shop Jeen from selling any more Chanel trademarks. We knew way back when that Kaiser Karl would not be happy about this. But hey, at least the Chanel name won’t be further damaged by “different quality goods” ( a key complaint in this lawsuit) since the product is no longer available to buy.
