We’re no stranger to well-known designers pairing up with lower-priced retailers. Peter Pilotto for Target (as well as Prabal Gurung, Jason Wu and Phillip Lim), Isabel Marant for H&M, Catherine Maladrino for Kohl’s–these are nothing new. In fact, when these typically higher priced brands embrace more fast-fashion outlets (especially ones that cater to middle America and millennials), everyone benefits–from the store to the fashion brand to the customer.
And now, Sam’s Club is getting in on the action. Christian Siriano has partnered up with the members-only chain store to produce four pieces including a jacket, pants, sweater and top. The pieces (all under $20) come in multiple colors (most of them black, white, gray and a version of radiant orchid) and patterns (color-only or striped).
Yes, this collaboration might feel like it comes a bit from left field, but if Sam’s Club wants to compete with the Walmarts and Targets of the world, a fashion partnership is necessary. It gets coverage, it makes money and it keeps customers happy (especially for a members-only store. Everyone wants what they can’t have, right?). For Christian Siriano, this isn’t the brand’s first lower-priced collab.-He has created several footwear collections for Payless, all of which were very successful.
Unfortunately, all of the pieces are already sold out online (the collection launched on Jan. 15) which means you’ll have to head into a store, membership and all, to buy anything. While you start signing up for that membership, go ahead and browse the pieces here.
