Whether you’re decorating your first studio apartment or just looking to swap out some dusty decor inherited from the fam, the holidays are a time for making your home the coziest reflection of yourself.
“The Real” host Adrienne Bailon-Houghton teamed up with HomeGoods to deck out her home for the holidays–and share some life-changing decorating tips with us in the process:
First Rule: Have Fun With It
The process itself should be enjoyable, Adrienne explains. Visit the stores you love. “HomeGoods is my favorite store ever, especially during the holidays,” Adrienne says. “I’m completely obsessed because shopping there is like a fun adventure where I know I’ll find stunning, quality decorations and entertaining essentials at amazing prices.”
You Can Find Great Pieces Under $25
You don't have to spend a fortune on major decor pieces to transform your space. In fact, some of the pieces that inspired Adrienne's holiday makeover were under $20. “The décor theme for my dining room was inspired by a beautiful, decorative mother of pearl star I found in HomeGoods for just $9.99-$12.99," she explains.
"I incorporated a few of each size on the mantle and the center of the dining table alongside other ceramic and glass tabletop trees.”
Think Beyond Red, Green & Gold
Your house doesn't have to look like a holly plant exploded; think past the red and green.
“I’m all about rose gold everything, so when I spotted all the mercury glass decorative trees at HomeGoods, I knew I had to make our fireplace area into a sparkly holiday moment," Adrienne explains.
"I got creative with rose gold faux berry garland, beaded Christmas stockings, and glassware for my bar cart for entertaining to bring the space to life.”
Food Isn't Just For Eating
Something functional like snacks can contribute to the vibe as well. “I was amazed by all the festive finds I grabbed at HomeGoods for our wet bar, including wooden cheese boards and ceramic bowls for serving as well as sweet and savory gourmet snacks like cookies, candies, seasoned bar nuts and marinated olives.” Yum!
Faux Fur Is Cozy--& Affordable
“There’s nothing like cozying up by the fire during the holiday season. I’m in love with anything faux fur and at HomeGoods I was able to find throw blankets, pillows and even Christmas stockings that are both chic and affordable,” she explains.
Loved Ones Are The Final Touch
Family and friends tie everything together. For Adrienne, that means a sing-along with her hubby and friends around the piano, or her mom coming to stay in the guest bedroom. What guests bring your home to life?
