Trying to hide signs of aging is definitely easier said than done. As you grow older, it has probably become more difficult to conceal your fine lines, wrinkles, and eye bags. (Don’t worry, we totally understand how it feels.) In fact, there’s no denying that for many of us, we’ve spent a little extra money on skincare products and clinical treatments. These can obviously be great investments, but they don’t always get the job one—which is why sometimes, we turn to makeup.

Thanks to TikTok, we recently discovered a trending makeup hack that might just make you look younger. Based on a video uploaded by user @lenkalul, the trick involves applying blush on your cheekbones and blending the product upwards, slightly close to your under eye area. Check it out below.

As it aims to lift your face simply by using blush, we asked a beauty expert to weigh in if this is actually effective. Read on for some insight and tips from professional makeup artist Kerri Herlihy.

How To Create A Lifted Look Using Blush

According to Herlihy, "I typically apply blush right below the cheekbones, with a touch of highlighter above to create a more lifted look. Then, I add a cream bronzer along the hairline and the temples, and keep it all in place with a setting mist." She shares, "One of my favorites is a matte spray by NYX Cosmetics."

Additionally, when it comes to makeup, Herlihy believes that less is always more. She mentions, "I recently discovered an amazing line called Saie Beauty. It's more of a makeup and skincare hybrid. [It's] great for all ages and skin types." She also suggests that "sticking with creams for your foundation, bronzer, and blush definitely create a more youthful, glowing look."

At the end of the day, Herlihy reminds us that wearing sunscreen is key to slowing down the signs of aging. "Always include a sunscreen into your skincare regimen," she tells us. This will help protect your skin from the sun and its powerful UVA/UVB rays. As far as product recommendations go, her favorite is EltaMD UV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF 46.
