Our Editors Tested Out These Top-Rated Workout Clothes & Now We Never Want To Wear Anything Else

Life is busy and finding the motivation to workout on a daily basis can be hard sometimes–but fancy, new athletic clothes makes it a little easier.

They say you have a better day when you like your outfit, so just imagine what that theory can do for your next workout! No matter what your workout of choice is–whether that be cycling, dance, running, or weight lifting–every woman needs two essential items to take on the gym: comfortable workout clothes and a good pair of sneakers.

That’s why three of our editors put the latest styles by Brooks and Athleta to the test on their next run. Here’s how it went:

“Finding the perfect pair of running sneakers is no easy quest. I have low arches so most importantly, I need the support. If I have on a bad pair of sneakers don’t that aren’t designed specifically for runners I get foot pain and have to stop.”

--Shelby Rodriguez, Creative Manager

When the Fall 2018 Brooks Running Collection dropped, we couldn’t wait to get these babies on our feet. The slogan is to Run Happy, and that we did!

Brooks Running makes performance footwear that is focused around runners. With styles designed specifically for trail running to long distance running, and everything other kind of running in between, you can’t go wrong with a pair of these sneakers. The shoe’s soft, lightweight upper allows your foot to glide on and off the ground and without weighing you down while the firm but flexible sole gives you the support you need to push farther.

“When I’m searching for something to wear on my next run, a fun pair of leggings and a fitted black top is my go-to outfit. Out of everything, I need the leggings to stay in place. There’s nothing more distracting than tights that shift and fall down while I’m mid-workout.”

--Jessica Harrington, Editorial Assistant

Athleta’s new Run Free Collection is perfect because it’s designed specifically for runners and showcases a variety of tights, sports bras, shorts, and jackets. Athleta’s Run Free Tights come in inclusive sizes, including petite, regular, tall, and plus, and a variety of colorways.

The Run Free Tight features a comfortable PowerPace fabric that is smooth and soft to the touch, but also has some compression to it. Every runner’s biggest pet peeve -- aside from bad sneakers -- are pants that won’t stay put during the long haul. That’s why the waist on these leggings has a no-slip band that will keep your tights in place, no matter how long the run. So now there’s really nothing stopping you from pushing it an extra mile!

"You can't have a good workout without a good sports bra, end of story. While the most important traits of a quality sports bra include comfort and support, it also doesn't hurt it can look cute, too!"

--Paige Elhers, Creative Coordinator

Athleta's Run Free Bra is made with the same ultra-smooth and sleek PowerPace fabric as the leggings. The removable cups give you a little extra support and padding for your long distance run, while the asymmetrical straps highlight your back and provide ease of movement.
