Things seemed to be going well for Britney Spears. The singer had made strides in launching her second Las Vegas residency Domination and was quickly becoming one of our favorite accounts on Instagram thanks to her impressive and humorous dance videos.
Now, it seems that Spears needs to take some "me time." The star announced that she will be entering a mental health facility following some upsetting family news.
Spears has begun a 30-day stay at an undisclosed facility after her father, Jamie Spears, underwent surgery and nearly died.
The singer let fans know that something was up on April 3 by posting an Instagram message that reads, “Fall in love with taking care of yourself, mind, body, and spirit,” along with the caption “We all need to take time for a little ‘me time.’ :)”
Spears' father's on-going health issues have been known since Jan. 2019. The singer announced that Jamie was seriously ill via Instagram, informing fans that her dad had spent 28 days in the hospital after his colon ruptured. She also announced that she will be putting her new Domination show on hold while her father recovers.
"I don’t even know where to start with this, because this is so tough for me to say,” she wrote. "I will not be performing my new show Domination. I’ve been looking forward to this show and seeing all of you this year, so doing this breaks my heart. However, it’s important to always put your family first… and that’s the decision I had to make.”
