Celebrities are known for their radiant skin, especially when they’re on the red carpet. These stars always have flawless makeup and somehow manage to look 10 years younger than they actually are–and this applies to the men, too! After years and years of watching Hollywood’s finest show off their glowing, youthful-looking skin, we decided it was time to figure out how they pull it off each time.
Streeters’ makeup artist STOJ (@stoj_makeupartist) has worked with countless celebrities and she says that their secret to younger-looking skin lies in the prep before she applies makeup.
“I like to apply a hydrating facial sheet mask to my client’s face while they have their hair styled. This gives my client added hydration before I apply any makeup,” she tells SheFinds.
This is a tip that STOJ uses herself when she's doing her own glam, and she also revealed that actress Cate Blanchett is a fan, too!
"I love sheet masks too, I’ve been using them for years. Cate Blanchett would always use SK-II masks before I did her makeup."
She also never sends her clients out on the red carpet without a sweep of translucent powder first. "I like to apply Shu Uemura's Sheer And Matte Colorless Face Powder on my clients just before they step on to the red carpet. This powder is super fine and will set your makeup for a longer wear."
Here are some of the other products STOJ always has in her makeup bag when prepping celebrities for the red carpet:
"It's ultra sheer, but makes a big impact on the red carpet. I like to apply the product to the upper cheekbones, cupids bow, inner corner of the eyelids, and the brow bone."
"YSL's Touche Eclat is great for minimizing dark circles. Apply and let the product set for 10 seconds then pat into the skin. This brightens and perfects the skin."
"Laura Mercier's secret camouflage concealer is a great concealer. I love the two shades. Great for covering up dark under eye circles. Perfect to cover the skin's undertone."
