Chrissy Metz Shows Off Her 100-Lb Weight Loss On The Cover Of 'People' Magazine
For People's latest cover story, they decided to feature the beloved This Is Us actress, Chrissy Metz, whose breakthrough role of Kate Pearson captured the hearts of television lovers across the country. She truly made a name for herself, and since then, has undergone a dramatic transformation. Having made her big break playing a plus-size character, whose many episode plots revolved around her struggling to achieve certain goals due to her weight, the 44-year-old has faced a lot of harsh criticism about her size over the years. Yet, instead of letting it break her or force her to change her body too quickly and too dramatically, she managed to achieve peace within herself and lose an impressive 100 pounds. In recent interviews, she's mentioned that she's taken up strength training and that "healing" her inner child following a rough upbringing helped her get into better shape naturally. "I know skinniness doesn't equal happiness," she told the magazine. "I just want to be health-positive. I never said I wanted to be the face of body positivity. It's not that I condone morbid obesity or heroin chic. I condone a healthy body." On the cover of People, her changes are evident as she posed in a light pink floral dress with a big smile on her face. You can see the pictures here!
Chrissy Metz Opens Up About Her New Role And Relationship In Her Cover Story
After This Is Us aired its finale episode in 2022, the actress's career took a few twists and turns, as she moved to Nashville, recorded some music, and came out with children's books, including her latest one, When I Talk To God, I Talk About Feelings.
However, she's now back on screen, after landing the role of Starr in the new Netflix drama series, The Hunting Wives, which is based on a murder mystery novel by May Cobb. The show surrounds a circle of housewives with a bunch of salacious, dangerous secrets, and Chrissy plays a single mother outside of the socialite group of wives.
"It's become one of those things where everyone's like, 'Are you watching? I'm watching!'" Chrissy told People. "Everyone's talking about it. It's so cool when you do something that reaches all sorts of people, on all sides."
"I never thought I'd have all of this," she continued. "Honestly, I'm just so grateful to still be working...I truly live a life that I never thought would happen."
In addition to a new exciting show role, the Nashville resident also entered a relationship, which she admitted to the magazine is going really well. She noted that she's been dating an engineer for around a year, and although she kept his identity anonymous, she said he is "so supportive and so kind." He also helps her with meal prep and strength training, keeping her on track during her health journey.
All in all, Chrissy is in a really great place, and it's super encouraging to see, as now she is free enough to live a life and take on projects that aren't centered around her looks.
"I finally feel good enough," she told the publication.
