In early March, Costco suspended their free samples with the spread of COVID-19. According to USA Today, “The retailer suspended its popular samples in its wholesale clubs in early March over safety concerns with the spread of the coronavirus. Consumers mourned the smorgasbord of free snacks on social media, which was one of the first programs to be cut as the threat of COVID-19 grew.”

However, the retailer recently announced plans to bring back the popular samples.

Costco's chief financial officer Richard Galanti explained, "We're going to start doing some things in mid-June on a slow rollout basis in sampling."

"I can't tell you anymore, but needless to say it’s not going to be where you go and just pick up an open sample with your fingers," he continued.

Plus, Costco has re-added more menu options to their food courts.

Galanti said, "We've added some, but not all the items back as of now."

Costco has made several changes to store policy as a result of coronavirus.

According to their website, "To protect our members and employees, effective May 4, all Costco members and guests must wear a face covering that covers their mouth and nose at all times while at Costco. This requirement does not apply to children under the age of 2 or to individuals who are unable to wear a face covering due to a medical condition."

"The use of a face covering should not be seen as a substitute for social distancing. Please continue to observe rules regarding appropriate distancing while on Costco premises. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation," the statement continues.
