Donald Trump Refuses To Acknowledge Juneteenth
Donald Trump did not release anything in celebration of Juneteenth, and when White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was asked about the topic, she responded, "I’m not tracking his signature on any [Juneteenth] proclamation today. I know this is a federal holiday. I want to thank all of you for showing up to work. We are certainly here. We’re working 24/7 right now."
And a proclamation never came. Instead, Trump posted on Truth Social: "Too many non-working holidays in America. It is costing our Country $BILLIONS of dollars to keep all of these businesses closed. The workers don’t want it either! Soon we’ll end up having a holiday for every once working day of the year. It must change if we are going to, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"
Social Media Reactions
In response to Trump's silence on Juneteenth and crude jab at the holiday, American citizens let their opinions be known on social media. Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one person posted, "This is a guy who spent $42 million on a birthday parade," one person wrote. "He has a lot of nerve."
"This surprises exactly no one," another person wrote.
"Blatant racism," another posted. "He's despicable."
"It's like every darn day is something with this darn president," a fourth user tweeted.
"He sure says a lot without saying anything at all," a final comment reads.
