Gwen Stefani has candidly spoken about her relationship with ex-husband Gavin Rossdale – who she married in 2002 and with whom she shares sons Kingston, 19, Zuma, 17, and Apollo, 11 – on several occasions over the years. And that also includes their painful divorce, which she has since described as a “catastrophe.”

And we will never forget how candid the 55-year-old former The Voice coach was during a raw interview with Harper’s Bazaar back in 2016, one year after the devastating split.

Gwen Stefani Talks About The 'Hell' And 'Torture' Of Finding Out Gavin Rossdale Had Cheated

The GXVE Beauty founder finalized her divorce from the Bush frontman, 59, in August 2015, citing irreconcilable differences. In the August 2016 issue of Harper's Bazaar, she revealed that while the day of the divorce itself was unforgettable, there was an even more shocking day she would never forget: February 9th, 2015. And that is because that's the day she learned that her husband of 14 years had been cheating on her with the family's nanny.

"It was the beginning of hell," the "Don't Speak" singer recalled, before telling the mag that the next few months were "hell" and "torture" for her, as she tried to uncover the details of a "big secret" that had been hidden in plain sight.

"My dreams were shattered," Stefani admitted, before saying that the divorce meant that her current world of being a mom and wife was going to change.

"All I wanted my whole life was to have babies, be married, like what my parents have," she said, before talking about the heartbreak of splitting custody of her children with her ex-husband.

"It was so insane because not only did my family break up, but then my kids are taken away like half the time, so that was really like, 'What?! What did I do?'"

Gwen Stefani Said Her 'Life Fell Apart' After The Divorce

Back in September 2023, Gwen reflected on her divorce in a very candid interview with People, telling the outlet that her "life fell apart" after the "terrible" divorce.

"Everybody pretty much knows that at one point my life fell apart," the Grammy winner recalled. "It was terrible, and there's so many people out there that have gone through the same thing, when that happened, I had to literally start over again. It was a reset of my life."

Silver Linings For Gwen Stefani In The Form Of A Number One Single And A New Romance

There was, however, a silver lining. In June 2015, Stefani wrote the song "Used to Love You," which became her first solo number one single away from No Doubt. Around the same time, she confided in fellow The Voice judge Blake Shelton, 49, who was coincidentally going through his own divorce from Miranda Lambert, 41.

"It was like being handed this gift of a friend who was going through the exact same thing at the exact same time," Stefani said of Shelton. And as fans now know, the friendship blossomed into romance.

Stefani and Shelton began dating in November 2015, got engaged in October 2020, and married in July 2021 at Shelton's Ten Point Ranch near Tishomingo, Oklahoma. See, everything happens for a reason!

Gwen Stefani Says Blake Shelton Gave Her 'A Second Chance At Life'

The "Luxurious" singer has since opened up about how the "Boys 'Round Here" singer saved her. "Meeting my husband felt like a second chance at life. Because when my family fell apart, it felt like a catastrophe," Stefani told the Guardian in 2024.

"How do you pick yourself up from that? But God put this other person there to love me," she continued, which echoed what the "Ol' Red" singer previously said about the "Just a Girl" singer.

Shelton told Billboard back in 2016: "I was at rock bottom, in the middle of hell... Gwen saved my life. Who else on earth could understand going through a high-profile divorce from another musician?"
