When it comes to living a healthy lifestyle, most people struggle with the food aspect of it. Starting a diet and sticking to it is not easy. Even the fittest athletes can struggle with keeping their diet on track.
To help you meet your fitness goals this summer, here are five healthy eating tips that fitness bloggers swear by to keep their bodies in shape.
Ana Alarcón -- Vegan Fitness Blogger
“Choose more greens. Every time you go out for dinner or cooking at home, choose more veggies, more food that comes from the earth. It is ok to have a comfort meal but make eating healthy a priority. If you aren’t used to leafy greens (I know Kale can be hard to get used to!), make them in a smoothie or have a juice,” said Alarcón.
Sam Ozkural -- Lifestyle & Fitness Vlogger
“Don’t go to the grocery store hungry. It’s the worst thing you can do,” said Ozhural. “Your mind is just going to be like chocolate chip cookies, bread, cake--everything!”
Whitney Simmons -- Fitness Vlogger
“Eating healthy doesn't have to be miserable, make it fun with creative and yummy meals,” said Simmons. “The scale is not important. A lot of women, including myself, have once stepped on a scale every single morning and when you step on a scale every single morning, well, you’re not going to see a lot of changes.”
Instead, Simmons suggests weighing yourself about once a month.
Cassey Ho - Fitness Blogger & Creator Of Pop Pilates
“When you don’t sleep enough, you tend to overeat,” warns Ho. “Researchers from Columbia University released a study of 26 healthy men and women that showed that sleep deprived people (4 hours of sleep nightly for 6 nights) ate more calories than well rested people (9 hours of sleep nightly for 6 nights). Disruptions to sleep stimulate the hormone ghrelin, which then makes you hungry.”
So make sure you get the recommended 8-9 hours of sleep per night, otherwise, you could be hurting your fitness goals.
Karena Dawn & Katrina Scott -- Fitness Bloggers & Creators Of Tone It Up
“Choose healthy restaurants while traveling! Research the area to scope out the tastiest and healthiest eats, and ask a local TIU girl for input too! No matter where Karena or I are, we always choose Lean, Clean and Green,” said Dawn and Scott.
