A Nutrition Specialist Who Lost 55-Lbs Shares Her Favorite ‘High-Protein’ Meal Prep Recipe For Slimming Down Safely: ‘Amazing’ Garlic Parm Chicken Bowls

One of the best ways to stick to a healthy eating plan while trying to lose weight is by meal prepping for the week. While there are so many meal prep food recipes out there, this one by a viral nutrition specialist and TikTok creator looks too good to resist.

MaKayla Thomas is a nutrition specialist, weight loss coach, mom, and content creator who went viral after she started sharing her recipes that helped her lose 55 pounds post-partum. In one of her many meal prep recipe videos, she shared a tutorial for how to make her ‘garlic parm crunch bowls,’ which are inspired by garlic parm chicken wings and tenders that have been going viral online. The meal contains so many yummy, decadent ingredients that it’s almost hard to tell they’re for weight loss. MaKayla notes in her captions that this meal is “realistic,” “high-protein,” and makes her week “easier.” Read about how to make it below.

MaKayla Preps Her Ingredients For Her Garlic Parm Crunch Bowls

To make her delicious weight loss-friendly recipe, MaKayla starts by taking three meal prep container bowls and placing them in a row, so that as she cooks her ingredients, she can assemble them in her reheatable bowls.

To prep the food, she starts by taking two potatoes, writing, "do not fear," stating that potatoes are "great for weight loss." She chops the two potatoes into small cubes, like home fries, and "mists" them with oil before seasoning them. Then, she throws them in the air fryer at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes. Once that time is up, she shakes them before putting them back in for another 10 to 15 minutes so they cook evenly.

To prep her chicken, MaKayla takes six diced chicken tenderloins and seasons them with garlic salt, parmesan cheese, and paprika before sticking them in the air fryer at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for four minutes. Then she takes them out, flips them, and puts them back in for three to four more minutes.

MaKayla Assembles Her Garlic Parm Crunch Bowls

Once her chicken and potatoes are cooked, the nutrition specialist begins prepping her bowls in her meal prep containers. The assembling of these bowls is super easy, and once the ingredients are prepped, it can be done in less than 10 minutes!

In each bowl, MaKayla adds 1/2 cup of the diced potatoes, followed by a serving of "any green veggie." In her video, she opts for some cooked and sliced zucchini, which she "hides" underneath the potatoes so her bowls look even more appetizing. Some cooked broccoli, spinach, or green beans would also go quite well with this recipe.

After the veggies, she adds a serving of her chicken tenders to her bowls before topping them with a drizzle of Parmesan garlic sauce from Buffalo Wild Wings and Rao's alfredo sauce. She only uses three tablespoons of the sauce per bowl, so she gets all the delicious creaminess and flavor without overdoing it.

Finally, she tops her bowls with a light sprinkle of Parmesan cheese, then she's done! In her comments section, MaKayla's fans and followers commented that they're "amazing" and are great for anyone who loves a cheesy, filling meal.
