I’m constantly clicking through street style photos and scrolling through style blogs for outfit inspo. Hey, I’ve been dressing myself for a long time and sometimes I need a little help freshening things up.
One look that I’ve seen lots of cool girls wearing and have always wanted to copy is the layered slipdress outfit. I know you’ve seen it. A super fancy-looking slipdress paired with the most basic cotton T-shirt for a look that’s surprisingly put-together but not too formal or boring. I recently added this ensemble to my rotation and it quickly became one of my go-tos. Stock up on enough tees and slipdresses and it’s an outfit you can rely on in a pinch (like when you oversleep!).
If you’ve always wanted to try this look, I’m here to reassure you it’s easier than you think to pull off. Here’s how to do it:
First, you start with a plain and simple white tee. I like this one from Topshop because it's a little cropped so you won't have to worry about it bunching around your waist underneath the slipdress.
Next, you throw on not-too-tight slipdress in a luxe fabric like silk or satin. This one from Everlane is wrinkle-resistant and comes in three colors. Easy, right?
If that feels too difficult, though, there's still hope. Twofer dresses like this one by Free People come already assembled with a tee and slipdress sewn together so all you have to do is put the thing on!
