Jelly Roll Flaunts His 300-Lb Weight Loss On The Red Carpet & Talks About Being A 'Better Father'
Last week, celebrities stepped out for the red carpet premiere of the Netflix series, Star Search, which marks the return of the famous 1980s and '90s talent competition series. The reboot features a new panel of judges, including the "Save Me" singer, whose career is buzzing more than ever these days.
Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, attended the series reboot premiere wearing a sleek leather jacket and black t-shirt, which showed off his slimmed-down figure. All smiles on the red carpet, he paused to talk to reporters about the most pressing aspect of his life right now - his 300-pound weight loss. As a reporter from Extra TV asked him how his weight loss has changed him "physically and emotionally," he had a lot to say.
"I've gotten closer to God, I've gotten closer to myself, I'm a better father, I'm more present with my children," he started. "You should see it. I'm coaching my son's basketball team this year...I just feel physically better."
"When you're 550 pounds, you want to have a seat big enough for you somewhere," he continued. "You definitely don't think about trying to coach a team. You're wondering if there's a bench you could sit on. To have the weight off, I mean, 300 pounds. I'm a whole different human."
Fans React To Jelly Roll's Transformation & Health Update On Social Media
After the health and wellness update from Jason during the Netflix premiere went viral on YouTube and other social media platforms, his fans and other internet users were quick to show their support.
The award-winning musician has been documenting his experience on social media over the last two years, sharing some of his favorite low-calorie, high-protein meals, his favorite forms of exercise, and more. Therefore, now that he's dropped a whopping 300 pounds, his fans are especially proud.
"Good for you, man," commented a fan on YouTube. "Proud of you."
"He looks amazing!" added another.
"Jelly is such an inspiration to all," wrote a user.
We'll be curious to see what the new year brings for the singer and now, television personality. But for now, it looks like he's enjoying this new chapter of not only his career, but his personal life as well.
