Jennifer Lopez is one of the best entertainers in the industry and always gives her all during her performances. But, her latest concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City didn’t go the way the star had planned…
Lopez's Saturday night concert at the iconic venue was interrupted by the city's unexpected power outage, which left the West Side in darkness for more than five hours due to a "significant electrical transmission" from Con Edison.
Thousands of customers in a 40-block stretch from Times Square in Midtown Manhattan to 72nd Street and Broadway on the Upper West Side were affected starting from 6:45 p.m. until just before midnight, according to Fox News.
The singer was about to take the stage and her backup dancers had already begun their first number when the entire venue lost power.
Lopez, her team, the concertgoers, and MSG employees were forced to evacuate the venue. The "Medicine" singer took to Instagram as the evacuation was taking place, apologizing to her fans and providing updates on the status of the show.
"The power is out in NYC and at MSG. Heartbroken to say tonight's show is canceled," she wrote along with a video message. "We will reschedule. Love you all!!! Stay safe!"
The singer shared another message to alert fans that the show was being rescheduled. "ANNOUNCEMENT: Gonna take more than a city-wide blackout to shut us down!" Lopez wrote. "Rescheduling the show for Monday [July 15, 2019] night," she wrote.
