Katy Perry Hints At Reason For Breakup In New Song Lyrics & Video
In her new song "Bandaids," Katy's first single since her breakup, she hints lyrically at why she and Orlando couldn't make it work anymore. "Hand to God I promise I tried / There's no stone left unturned / It's not what you did, it's what you didn't / You were there, but you weren't," she sang.
Later in the song, she doubles down: "Got so used to you letting me down / No use tryna send flowers now / Telling myself you'll change, you don't / Band-Aids over a broken heart."
"It's not that complicated / To ask me how my day is / I'm flatlining trying to save this / Bleeding out, bleeding out, bleeding out slow," she sang. Rough!
Katy Perry & Orlando Bloom Breakup
Despite being together for nearly 10 years, Perry and Bloom never officially tied the knot. They met and started dating in 2016 and were engaged on Valentine's Day in 2019. Though they had a wedding planned in Japan for summer 2020, they ended up postponing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In August 2020, they welcomed their daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom, though they never put a wedding date back on the calendar. This past summer, they called it quits for good, and it seems like they've both already moved on. Katy's gone public with her new relationship with Justin Trudeau, and Orlando's been spotted with a few different ladies since the break up including a flirtatious encounter with Kim Kardashian at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez's wedding.
