The luckiest people in the world just might be the children of celebrities, right? Kim Kardashian, one of the most wealthy celebrities out there, is in hot water with fans after posting photos and videos of the lavish birthday display she’s put on for her youngest daughter’s fifth birthday. Though to her it’s showing her love to young Chicago, to fans, it seems like a “waste.” Keep reading for more information.

Kim Kardashian Goes All Out For Chicago’s 5th Birthday

Last year, as Chicago turned 5, her mother, Kim Kardashian decided it was going to be the best birthday yet, and went all out for a Hello Kitty themed party, complete with wall-to-wall pink carpeting just for the party. The whole mansion was decked out in all pink, with massive balloons and gorgeous flower bouquets all over the house.

According to People, Chicago had friends over for a ramen bar, waffle pops, Hello Kitty grilled cheeses, and a milkshake station. Activities included Hello Kitty ceramic painting, slime making, face painting, and a performance from a dancing Hello Kitty mascot. Seems like a wonderful party, but is it a bit much? Fans think so.

Fans Call Kim Kardashian ‘Narcissistic’ For Over The Top Party Decor

In a thread on Reddit dedicated to discussing the Hello Kitty party, fans seemed to think that it was too much, especially for a 5 year old. “The amount of waste the 1% produces never ceases to amaze me,” one user wrote alongside a video of the party. “How many of y’all wanna bet she didn’t even donate that perfectly good rug after use & instead threw it away along with all the other plastic party crap she obviously had her assistant buy just for this…”

“She changed the carpet for social media likes, not for her kid,” another person accused the reality star of. “She is so narcissistic.”

“God, this makes me sick to my stomach,” said another user.

“It’s truly mind-blowing to think about how much the 1% wastes on frivolous luxuries while so many people struggle to make ends meet,” a fourth person said.

“How are you going to up that next year?” another person asked.

“What a disgusting waste of resources,” added another.

Not Kim’s First Offense

This is not the first time she’s been slammed as “out of touch” on social media – last year she was in hot water with fans for transforming her $60M mansion in Calabasas into a faux-snow-covered winter wonderland for her family’s annual Christmas party.

Although older sister Kourtney Kardashian and many of the other guests who attended the star-studded bash on Christmas Eve seemed to make the most of the grounds of Kim’s home being covered in fake snow by posing for seemingly endless pictures, many people on social media deemed it “wasteful,” while also calling the 43-year-old Skims founder “out of touch with reality” for flaunting her wealth in such a way.

Kim Kardashian Is Criticized On Social Media For Transforming Her Home Into A Winter Wonderland

The mom-of-four has been posting countless pictures and videos from the Christmas Eve party on social media since the day it took place. But it was the video of her gargantuan garden, which was covered in faux-snow-adorned trees and a seemingly infinite amount of Christmas lights, that she shared with her 364M Instagram followers on December 31st that seemed to get the most criticism.

"The amount of $ spent on this could've helped so many," wrote one disappointed fan in the comments section, which another agreed with, writing: "All that money you spent on that [expletive] you could help people that really need it." "This is just so wasteful," concurred another critic, as another person added: "Why are you still insisting on shoving your distasteful lack of self-awareness down people's throats. Wake up."

"With the money that was spent with this spectacle could you not have perhaps toned it down just a smudge and donated a few million dollars to 100 poor families," another Instagram user suggested. "Wasteful. All of that could’ve fed a few 100 people. Sick of you posting your money flex when we’re all out here struggling," slammed another fan, as another fan said: "I have mad respect for your family creating a successful dynasty. You are all talented and impressive. But this is just… so out of touch with any reality." "Just because you can doesn’t always mean you should," said another.

Some Fans Come To Kim Kardashian's Defense

It wasn’t all negativity in the comments section, as some fans jumped to the Kardashians star's defense. "It’s their money so they can do whatever they want with it," wrote one fan. "What makes you think they don’t help anyone with their money?" asked another fan, while another pointed out that Kim's winter wonderland would have created jobs for many people over the holidays. They wrote: "It did: jobs for carpenters, florists, garden designers, electricians, logistics, cleaners and many more."

Replying to a fan who deemed the winter wonderland "wasteful," another fan said: "Go tell the designers, landscapers, truck drivers, etc etc that this was unnecessary and so are their paychecks for being hired."
