While many people say they don’t have any regrets in life, King Charles doesn’t appear to be one of those people. According to reports, a royal biographer has claimed that the 75-year-old monarch has a few regrets about how he and the late Princess Diana raised their two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. More specifically, how they weren’t as strict with their sons as they could have been.

Does this regret have anything to do with the years-long royal family feud? Would a stricter upbringing have made the brothers not fight with each other? We can’t say for sure, but we wonder if it’s something that plays on the King’s mind…

King Charles Reportedly 'Regrets' That He 'Wasn't Strict' With Prince William And Prince Harry

Ingrid Seward, royal author and Majesty Magazine editor-in-chief, told Fox News Digital that she thinks King Charles might have regrets about the way they parented their two sons, referencing how he went along with Princess Diana's "freestyle of bringing up children."

"Prince Harry and King Charles were very, very close," Seward said. "They got on incredibly well. I think Charles probably regrets that he wasn't strict with Harry and William."

"Diana allowed them to do, more or less, what they wanted, which was very fashionable in those days. You let children just get on with things," Seward explained.

"I think Charles probably regrets that he wasn't a bit stricter because it might've given both boys a few more boundaries," the My Mother and I author added. "Children all need boundaries, and I don't think they had too many."

King Charles' Relationship With His Sons

The King has two very different relationships with his sons. While he appears to be closer with Prince William, the heir to the throne, he reportedly hasn't given up on his younger son, either, despite all the drama surrounding his bombshell memoir Spare and the Netflix docuseries Harry and Meghan.

Prince Harry has come under fire since releasing his tell-all book in January 2023, with British royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams previously saying: "Even the Duke of Windsor, 15 years after the abdication, he published the King's Story, but this was a completely different era and the book, although it caused some controversy, was nothing like this. These are direct, fierce, vengeful attacks on the royal family."

But despite all the things he has said about his family in the past, Prince Harry admitted that he still loved his family, and was grateful to have been able to see his father as soon as he learned of his cancer diagnosis.

"I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him, I'm grateful for that," Prince Harry said on Good Morning America earlier this year, adding: "I jumped on a plane and went to go see him as soon as I could."

He also mentioned that he would be making a few trips to the U.K. over the next few months, adding: "I've got other trip plans that will take me through the U.K., or back to the U.K. So, I'll stop in and see my family as much as I can."
