Prince Harry's Spokesperson Denies 'Formal' Meeting Reports
According to previous reports, the Spare author, 41, described the highly-anticipated meeting with his father as "distinctly formal" and "very official, like an official visit." But his spokesperson flatly denied this, saying: "Recent reporting of the Duke's view of the tone of the meeting is categorically false."
The father-of-two's spokesperson went on: "The quotes attributed to him are pure invention, fed, one can only assume, by sources intent on sabotaging any reconciliation between father and son."
Another source close to Prince Harry echoed the frustration, telling the Mail on Sunday: "The relationship between the Duke and His Majesty The King is a matter for the two of them and the two of them only. The men in grey suits should stay out of it."
Palace Officials Say They Are 'Working Behind The Scenes' To Mend King Charles And Prince Harry's Relationship
Interestingly, palace insiders have reportedly insisted that they've actually been working hard to finally mend the strained relationship between the father and son. One source told The Times: "The reality is that senior aides have been working behind the scenes to improve what is a delicate but important private family relationship."
The publication went on to say that palace officials, which we assume also includes King Charles himself, were left "saddened and perplexed" by Prince Harry's sabotage claims.
Prince Harry's Spokesperson Clarifies Details About Gifts
Prince Harry's spokesperson also addressed leaks about gifts between the father and son being exchanged during the meeting. They said: "Presumably, those same sources have also chosen to disclose that gifts were exchanged."
They added: "While we would have preferred such details to remain private, for the sake of clarity we can confirm that a framed photograph was handed over, however the image did not contain the Duke and Duchess."
