We’ve been counting down the days until Meghan Markle’s due date since the newly-crowned royal announced she was expecting back in October. We’re bummed that Markle isn’t due until spring 2019, but we’re enjoying watching the Duchess of Sussex show off her growing baby bump. In fact, Markle just had the best bump moment last night.
Markle stole the show at the 2018 British Fashion Awards in a stunning figure-hugging black gown. The Duchess cradled her bump for the cameras while on stage presenting the award for the British Womenswear Designer of the Year, but royal experts noted that the mom-to-be broke royal protocol with her look. Can you spot the rule she broke? It’s her nail polish!

Royal spectators called out Markle for wearing dark nail polish to the event when it is traditional for royals to wear neutral shades at appearances. Some sources claim it’s because dark colors or anything that doesn’t look natural, is considered vulgar or improper etiquette to the royal family.
Others noted that Markle’s dress also broke protocol. The royal showed off more skin than usual with her off-the-shoulder gown, which some are calling more “risqué” than the anything any other member of the royal family has worn. But Markle has made it very clear that she will be going against tradition and pushing the boundaries now that she’s a royal—and we’re honestly so excited to see what she has in store for us!
