Meghan Markle has once again caused a stir because of something she said on a podcast. When will she learn?!

The Duchess of Sussex, 43, made headlines for all the wrong reasons when she appeared on the Aspire podcast with British businesswoman Emma Grede, as she made some very controversial comments about life with the royal family before she and Prince Harry stepped down as senior royals in 2020. Meghan Markle Makes Controversial Comments About The Royal Family On New Podcast Episode

The As Ever founder once again alluded to being silenced by the royal family when Grede asked her what it was like when she launched her new Instagram profile @meghan on New Year’s Day, as she said: “It was a great way to get my voice back.”

This isn’t the first time she’s made that comparison. She previously spoke about the feeling of losing her voice during her infamous Oprah interview in 2021, where she compared herself to Ariel in Disney’s The Little Mermaid.

She said at the time: “I was sitting in Nottingham cottage and The Little Mermaid came on. I was like, ‘Oh my God, she falls in love with the prince and because of that she loses her voice.’ But in the end, she gets her voice back.”

Later in the podcast, the mom-of-two shifted gears to talk about fashion – specifically, how dressing with intention became another way of expressing herself when she felt unable to speak freely.

When asked if her sartorial choices were purposeful, she replied: "Of course." She went on: "There's an intention. So I think in moments where I found I wasn't as empowered with my voice, I still wanted to be heard in other ways."

"I still wanted women to know that I was supporting them. I still wanted people to feel like, even if I didn't get an uplift from that, that they did," she continued, adding: "In some ways, that actually did uplift me because I went, 'Oh my gosh.' Like, there was a company that made jeans, and they would help women. They gave the positions and the roles to women who would have been trafficked, and they took them off the streets and they put them into this labor force to be able to have a well-paying job where they were well taken care of."

The former Suits actress concluded: "To be able to help that company and get letters from those founders saying we were able to help save 25 women because of you wearing these jeans – that is a huge privilege of influence, and I never took that lightly."

Internet Reactions

As expected, the internet did not take too kindly to her comments. "Megs was only in the RF for a few months… it's been like 5-6 years. She needs therapy to move on," slammed one X user. "She wanted the monarchy to represent her but never understood she works FOR the monarchy. Good riddance," commented a second.

"The RF does not have opinions on anything and if they do or did they keep them firmly zipped – you had a voice you could've used it for the good of OTHERS except she wanted it to be all about her and no one else – that's not how the RF works," observed a third, as a fourth concurred: "Neither Harry nor she ever understood what the monarchy is about. They just saw it as their cash cow and their self-promotional tool."

"I just can't get over the ego of some unknown American B-list actress thinking she had anything to say within the centuries old royal family in her first years there," echoed a fifth X user, as a sixth chimed in: "The fact that she does not realize how silly and entitled she sound is cringe worthy. No one wants to hear from her."
