Meryl Streep fans and fashion lovers alike have been buzzing after hearing about the upcoming sequel to The Devil Wears Prada. However, now that two of the lead actors have been captured filming a scene in funeral attire, people are worried about what that means for the most iconic character in the film.

After Anne Hathaway, who plays the lead role in the famous film, and Stanley Tucci, a popular supporting character, were caught by paparazzi filming a scene for the anticipated sequel in funeral attire, the internet started buzzing, worrying that Meryl Streep’s iconic character, Miranda Priestly, dies in the new film. Not only were they upset to see that, presumably, a character passes, but they are also tired of seeing behind-the-scenes photos and videos getting shared, feeling like the movie is getting spoiled. Anne Hathaway & Stanley Tucci Are Photographed Filming 'DWP2' In All Black

Over the last few weeks, famous actors, from Anne Hathaway to Emily Blunt, have been caught by paparazzi filming scenes for the highly anticipated sequel to The Devil Wears Prada, an iconic 2006 film about editors, assistants, designers, and more in the New York City fashion publishing world. Anne's character, Andy, an aspiring journalist, found herself the assistant to a high-profile and extremely demanding fashion magazine editor, Miranda Priestly, played by Meryl Streep.

The film was rumored to have been inspired by Anna Wintour and the behind-the-scenes process at Vogue, although that hasn't been confirmed. It's been almost 20 years since audiences fell in love with the first film, and fans of it have been thrilled since learning there would be another, slated to be released next year. The Les Misérables actress has been seen filming on the streets of Manhattan several times, and last week, she was spotted filming alongside co-star Stanley Tucci.

The two actors looked like they were wearing funeral attire, with Anne sporting a long, elegant black dress paired with a coordinating black trench coat. She had on sunglasses and carried a matching black purse. Stanley was also dressed in what looked like a black funeral suit, which was paired with a silver tie. They were videotaped looking somber as they spoke in a scene, although their dialogue was inaudible. You can see pictures of them filming in their outfits here!

Fans Express Concern Over Meryl Streep's Character Online

Given that the Mamma Mia icon's character is older than many of the others in the film, sort of playing a notorious matriarch of the fashion industry, people are beginning to worry that not only is there a funeral in the film sequel, but that it's Miranda Priestly's funeral.

Although Meryl was also photographed filming for the movie several times in the city, being filmed in an office building and wearing a Met Gala-esque gown outdoors, some are beginning to worry that there is a dark fate awaiting her character in the follow-up movie. None of this has been confirmed, as there hasn't even been a trailer released for the film yet, but internet users can't seem to stop themselves from speculating online, sharing concerns in the comments section on Instagram.

"Don't kill Miranda, please," commented an Instagram user, as another pointed out Anne and Stucci's filming "looked like a funeral scene."

"If you kill Miranda, trust me, you will lose respect from all of us," wrote an upset fan.

"This might be Miranda's funeral scene," added another.

Other fans started expressing anger at paparazzi and media outlets for consistently posting pictures and videos from the upcoming film's behind-the-scenes process.

"Social media has ruined the magic of movies and TV shows," commented an Instagram user.

"You're ruining the movie for us," wrote an angry viewer.

"Stop spoiling the film, because now I have a funeral scene in my mind," added another.

Once again, no one can say for sure whether or not someone's character will pass away in the upcoming fashion film, or if Miranda Priestly's life comes to an end on the silver screen. Still, people are not going to stop speculating until it hits theaters.
