News broke that the Oscar-winning actress will be staring in a new Netflix film directed by Glee and American Horror Story's Ryan Murphy.
The famous showrunner will be directing and producing a feature adaption of The Prom, a Tony-nominated musical about two Broadway legends who swarm to a small, conservative town in Indiana to support a high school girl who wants to take her girlfriend to the prom.
Streep is set to play the main role of Dee Dee Allen opposite James Corden as Barry Glickman.
Murphy's adaptation, which is called just Prom, has also recruited Streep's BLL co-star Nicole Kidman to play Angie Dickinson.
There's also a rumor that singer Ariana Grande is on board as well. If this is true, she'll be playing Alyssa, the popular girl in school.
Refinery29 reports that Grande will also be producing the soundtrack alongside Murphy and her manager, Scooter Braun.
Streep has shown off her musical talents in several roles. Most recently, she starred in Mary Poppins Returns, where she played Cousin Topsy and delivered a vivacious performance of the original song "Turning Turtle," which she sang alongside Emily Blunt and Lin Manuel Miranda.
