B-Complex Vitamin

If you're looking for a vitamin to add to your routine, consider a B-complex vitamin. Specifically if you have concerns about your metabolism functioning properly, a boost of B vitamins could be exactly what you need.

"These vitamins are essential for a fully functioning metabolism. The main function of the B vitamins is to help your body metabolize carbohydrates, proteins, and fats, and to use the stored energy in food," Healthline explains. "Thiamine (B-1), for example, helps the body cells convert carbohydrates into energy. In other words, low levels of one or more of these vitamins means your metabolism won’t be functioning at its best. This makes losing weight even harder."

In particular, Vitamin B2, riboflavin, can be useful in metabolizing your food. "Riboflavin helps your body break down and use the carbohydrates, fats, and proteins in your diet and helps metabolize food into energy," Everyday Health explains. "This type of B vitamin also functions to keep your skin, the lining of your gut, and your blood cells healthy."

There are plenty of other health benefits to B vitamins as well. Healthline explains, "As the building blocks of a healthy body, B vitamins have a direct impact on your energy levels, brain function, and cell metabolism."

These vitamins can also support energy levels, digestion, and brain function.

Although a B-complex vitamin might be the simlplest way to get these benefits into your diet, there are plenty of foods that contain B vitamins as well. Citrus fruits, avocado, whole grains, and eggs are just a few examples of foods rich in B vitamins, according to WebMD.
