There are a lot of dos and don’ts when it comes to proper skincare habits – even more when you are working for anti-aging results. The main points are always that you must use the right products for your specific skin type, and never go to sleep without washing your face. But there is one skincare don’t that many people tend to do because they don’t realize how bad it is for the skin – but it can actually speed up the aging process.

We’re talking about skipping the moisturizer. Though it might seem like skipping moisturizer every once in a while can’t do much harm to the skin, this misconception couldn’t be farther from the truth. Forgetting to moisturize can cause damage to the skin, including fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots, under-eye circles and even sagging skin.

Many people forgo moisturizing every so often because they think that the only purpose of face creams is to rehydrate dry skin. But moisturizing does so much more for your face. Even if you don’t see noticeably dry skin, your face can almost always use a good hydration boost because the moisture can help your skin thrive, in so many ways.

Moisturizer is one of the most essential steps to every beauty routine. Maintaining proper hydration in the skin allows it to best repair itself from damages, soften tight or coarse skin, smooth out fine lines and promote a firm complexion. Well-hydrated skin isn’t just rid of dry spots - it’s bright, plump and radiant.

Everyone should moisturize twice daily. While you can use the same moisturizer both times, many people find it more comfortable to alternate between a day cream and a night cream, because the daytime products tend to be lighter on the skin while the evening options provide rich hydration benefits. No matter which type of moisturizer you choose, make sure to look for nourishing ingredients like hyaluronic acid, vitamin C or ceramides.
