Nicole Kidman wowed audiences with her performance in HBO’s "Big Little Lies," and continued to wow them with her moving acceptance speech at the 2017 Emmys. In it, the actress, who won Outstanding Lead Actress In A Limited Series, spread awareness for domestic violence, graciously thanked her co-stars and "BLL" team, and even gave a heartfelt shout out to her husband Keith Urban and their two daughters Sunday Rose, 9, and Faith, 6. She dedicated the award to them saying, "This is yours. I want my little girls to have this on their shelf and to look at it and go, 'Every time my mommy didn't put me to bed, it's because of this.' I got something!”
While this was undoubtedly one of the more heartwarming moments of the night, viewers noticed that Kidman failed to mention her other two children Connor, 22, and Isabella, 24, whom she adopted during her marriage to Tom Cruise…
To be honest, we totally forget Nicole and Tom were a thing... Talk about a #TBT! Kidman has said very little about Connor and Isabella over the years and many wonder why their relationship has become strained. Most think that it has to with Scientology and the fact that Kidman doesn't practice the religion.
As everyone knows, Cruise is all about Scientology and raised Connor and Isabella in the church. Popsugar reports that Connor and Isabella decided to live with their dad and continued to practice the religion when he and Kidman split in 2001 -- and their relationship has been complicated ever since. Kidman was deemed a "SP," or "suppresive person," by the church and Scientologists are instructed to cut all ties with them.
And it looks like Connor and Isabella took this rule very seriously. Leah Remini, a.k.a. one of the world's biggest anti-Scientologists, revealed that their relationship with Kidman was strained in her book "Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology." She recalled a conversation she had with the kids after attending Cruise and Katie Holmes' 2006 wedding, where she asked if they'd seen Kidman recently. Isabella responded, "Not if I have a choice. Our mom is a f*cking SP." Whoa...
While there definitely was some drama in the past, it seems like Kidman has managed to repair her relationship with Connor and Isabella. She opened up about her kids while promoting her 2016 film Lion, where she plays a mother who adopts a young Indian boy.
"I'm a mother with adopted children. This movie is a love letter to my children. Sue [her character] is deeply maternal and full of unconditional love, which is beautiful," she told Vanity Fair back in Nov. "That's why I wanted to do it. I relate to that. I feel that for my own children who are adopted. It's not about anything else other than, 'I wanted you.' It's that deep and personal, and whatever your journey is, I'm here to love and support you. That's what I connected to."
Isabella even talked about her relationship with her mom recently, too! "I see her sometimes and speak to her," she said. "Of course we talk, they're my parents I don't care what people say. I know that me and mom are solid. I love her a lot. My family means everything."
We're glad to hear that Nicole, Connor and Isabella are on good terms and have a solid relationship!
